WPC Exterior Cladding for Historic District & Heritage Building Renovation

HISTORIC DISTRICT RENOVATION

Keep the Old Character. Correct the Weak Parts of the Wall.

Our wood-look WPC exterior cladding is used for historic streets, traditional commercial buildings and renovation projects that need a timber-style facade with easier routine maintenance.

We do not start by covering the old wall. We first identify what should remain visible, what needs repair and where a new cladding layer can be added without losing the original building language.

Before Cladding, We Divide the Existing Facade into Three Decisions

KEEP

Original features worth showing

Stone bands, traditional window frames, signs and other character details can remain visible instead of being covered by one continuous new surface.

CORRECT

Unstable or wet wall areas

Loose finishes, water problems and badly uneven areas should be corrected first. We do not recommend hiding an active moisture problem behind WPC.

CLAD

Areas suitable for the new facade layer

A metal subframe can create a straight installation plane over suitable masonry, brick or other assessed existing surfaces.

We Approve the Historic Look with a Real Sample Area

For an older street facade, color is not enough. Board width, shadow line, direction and wood grain all change how the renovation looks beside the original building.

We prefer one representative mock-up near a window, corner or material transition before repeating the detail over the full elevation.

Our Experience

When the goal is to keep an older appearance, a quieter wood tone and simple repeated profile often works better than using too many grains or colors.

For phased work, we also keep the approved sample as the production reference because separate batches can show small color or texture differences.

A Renovation Installation Should Follow the Existing Building

01. Survey the old wall Check condition, moisture, level, windows and existing decorative features.
02. Set a new straight plane Use a suitable subframe where the existing surface cannot provide an accurate fixing plane.
03. Keep drainage behind the cladding Do not use the decorative WPC layer to hide failed waterproofing or block the wall from drying.
04. Finish around original details Coordinate corners, windows, signs and material transitions before large-area installation.

Select the Profile by Architectural Character, Not Only by Size

Shiplap Look

Useful when the original architecture already uses horizontal timber-style lines.

Wood-Grain Finish

Teak, walnut, oak, cedar and darker tones can be reviewed against the existing facade palette.

Project Dimensions

Existing options include 136×25 mm, 167×19 mm and 203×25 mm, with deeper customization reviewed from drawings.

Historic Appearance Does Not Replace Conservation Approval

WPC can reproduce a traditional timber-like appearance, but protected or listed buildings may have local rules covering materials, colors, fixing methods and original fabric.

Where conservation approval is required, the architect or local project authority should confirm the permitted facade treatment before final production.

Send Us the Existing Facade, Not Just the New Design

For renovation work, send both the current building photos and proposed elevation. This helps us review where WPC should start and stop, which profile fits the architecture and how the subframe can work around the existing wall.
